Military helicopters crossed overhead. Then an underground explosion became the loudest blast Bryan had ever heard. Instinctively, he dove to the floor. No one else moved. The moment showed him how differently people react when they do not know the threat or the next step.

During a blizzard, Bryan's wife developed altitude sickness. Finding care meant arranging a house-call physician at a cost of nearly $4,000 — a stark lesson in locating medical options and understanding coverage before arrival.

From traveler to protector
Over more than 20 years in law enforcement, Bryan developed operational plans for search warrants and undercover operations. He also worked dignitary protection alongside the Secret Service during visits by Presidents, Vice Presidents, Senators and foreign heads of state.
